Setup Questions:

What is the FMCSA portal?

It is a government website that houses all of a carrier’s DOT information, such as US DOT registration, operating authority, BASICs SMS data, crash information, inspections, violations, as well as DOT reviews. It can be accessed here

What if I have never setup my FMCSA portal?
If you’ve never registered for a portal account, click here to start the process. You’ll need your DOT number, personal information, user ID, and work address. For step-by-step instructions on how to set up your account visit this page.
How do I access my FMCSA portal?

You can access your portal by clicking here. If you’ve never registered for a portal account, click here to start the process.

What if I have multiple DOT #'s?

We will need to be given access to each DOT # you would like us to monitor. Please make sure you let your Carrier Guard account manager know that you have multiple DOT #’s so they can be properly linked.

How do I give Carrier Guard access to my data?

We will request access to your portal account upon signing up and an email will be sent to the Company Official. In this email, there will be a link that can be used to approve access.

An alternate method is for the Company Official or Alternate Company Official to log in to the FMCSA Portal here and follow the instructions below.

1. Hover over the Account Management tab and select the Pending Account Requests.

2. Select Carrier Guard from the request list.

3. To approve Carrier Guard’s access to your account scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and press the Approve Request button shown below.

How It Works:

How soon will I be notified of my driver's inspections and violations?

Within several hours of the DOT posting the records, you will have a customized report in your inbox.

Who in my company can get access to the notifications?

Each Carrier Guard account is provided one user account associated with an email address to receive notifications. If you have a need for more, please email your Carrier Guard account manager or call us at (913)-738-4836 to find out the pricing of adding more emails to the account.

What do I do if my driver gets a ticket?

As a Carrier Guard customer, your drivers have access to our nationwide network of top CDL attorneys. If you need legal assistance with a current ticket, please click here to submit the ticket to CDL Legal.

Can I download the information to my computer?
